The Road Not Taken

平安夜的傍晚，錯過了在香港公園奧林匹克廣場舉行的香港電台第四台「聖誕園林音樂會」。在這游閒的的聖誕日下午，正好連上了香港電台的網站，重溫當日的節目。

音樂會以「四季．榮耀頌」為題，除了有小提琴家演奏韋華弟的《四季》全首樂章，還有由女高音獨唱、四部合唱的《榮耀頌》，以及由不同合唱團合演多首聖誕節不可或缺的聖誕頌歌。當我正一面沉醉在韋華弟的《四季》中的《秋季》樂章時，一面執拾擱在書桌上的剪報，剛好重讀了這樣的一首詩篇，讀來特別傷感。

The Road Not Taken　　by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come black.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
two raods diverged in a wood, and I ——
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

黃色的樹林裡分出兩條路，
可惜我不能同時涉足，
我在那路口久久佇立，
我向著一條路極目望去，
直至它消失在叢林深處。

但我卻選擇了另外一條路，
它荒草萋萋，十分幽寂，
顯得更誘人美麗，
雖然在這兩條小路上，
都很少留下旅人的足跡，
雖然那天清晨落葉遍地，
兩條路都未經足印污染。

啊，留下一條路等改日再見！
但我知道路徑延綿無盡頭，
恐怕我難以再回頭。

也許多少年後在某處地方，
我將輕輕嘆息想起往事，
一片樹林裡分出兩條路，
我選了人跡罕至的一條，
從而決定了我一生的道路。
